Childcare Center Operated by Argonia USD 359
When will the daycare be open?
The hope is that we can be open by June 1st, 2024. Once open, the facility will operate from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm on Monday through Friday, 12 months per year.
Where will it be located?
There is a possibility of multiple locations depending on how many kids are enrolled and their ages. The daycare office will be in the Plains Church building which will also house all infants and toddlers. Argonia Elementary School will be used for after-school care and preschool aged children. If further space is needed talks are in process to use parts of the Argonia Methodist Church.
Who is operating the childcare center?
The center will be governed by the Board of Education of Argonia USD 359; they have hired Aimee Lackey, current Argonia kindergarten teacher, to be the Director.
How will Sunflower Station be staffed?
In addition to the Director several workers will need to be hired in order to meet the state required adult to child ratios; how many staff will depend on enrollment. Some duties, such custodial and food preparation duties, will be performed by current school employees. Anyone interested in employment can send an email to sunflowerstation@argonia359.org

What is the cost?
Current weekly rates are:
- Before/after school --- $50
- Attending preschool and older --- $100
- 3 and 4 year olds (must be pottytrained) --- $125
- Toddlers and pre-pottytrained --- $150
- Infants --- $200
Current daily drop-in rates (subject to staffing availability) are:
- Before/after school --- $12.50
- Attending preschool and older --- $25
- 3 and 4 year olds (must be pottytrained) --- $31.50
- Toddlers and pre-pottytrained --- $37.50
- Infants --- $50
Are discounts available?
Exact discount amounts have not been determined, but there will be discounted rates for:
- School and daycare employees
- Families with students enrolled in Argonia schools
- Families with multiple children in daycare
