Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Lady Raiders traveled to the South Central Border League Tournament on Saturday, October 6th as the #1 seed. For pool play they defeated South Haven, West Elk, and Udall to secure 1st place of Pool A that would play the 2nd place of Pool B, which turned out to be Flinthills. The first set in this match went 30-28 in favor of the Raiders. They battled from behind to win this set and that momentum carried them into the next set, winning 25-12. The winner of the semi-final match on the other court was Udall, whom the Raiders already played that day and was their 5th time playing them this season. For the championship game, they won the first set 25-22, but lost the second set 17-25. The third set was a very mental and physical battle as both teams were physically exhausted from playing all day and mentally exhausted from playing each other so many times. The Raiders battled all the way through the game to the very end, winning 28-26. At one point in the game, the Raiders were down 18-23 and then 21-24. Udall just needed to score one more point to secure the win, but the drive and heart of the Lady Raiders kept them from doing that. The Lady Raiders played with so much tenacity and resiliency and never settled for anything short of that 1st place plaque. A job well done to these girls and what an exciting day for the Lady Raiders, your 2018 SCBL Tournament Champs!
