Future Makers Lab Stops in Argonia

On December 14, 2017 Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) came to Argonia High School to share a few things with our student body. The program is called Future Makers and was completely free for the high school and students. The goal of the Future Makers Lab is to bring a career experiences to students. The lab, which is housed in thirty foot modified goose neck trailer, contains a virtual welding station, a virtual paint simulation, and a real life aircraft manufacturing experience. Students also worked in a 3D computer lab that the team set up in the student center. High school students spent ninety total minutes in the mobile lab and in the 3D computer lab.

The mobile lab made quite an impression on our students and our students made quite an impression the lab facilitators. The six WATC instructors running the lab were very impressed with the questions our students asked, as well as their experience and performances in the lab.  Our students' enthusiasm, their polite manners and their sincere interest in the what the lab was all about is the best the crew had seen from an entire student body. Much to the excitement of our students the lab will return in the spring with some new stations and a chance for the junior high to explore.
