Family Reading Night - STOMP OUT TRASH

I Can't believe that we had our final Family Reading Night of the school year - where does the time go?

Our theme this month was Recycle.  We started out the evening by looking at worms and discussing why we would talk about worms if we were doing Recycling.  Worms are very important to the soil as they recycle the food they eat into wonderful nutrients which they put back into the soil.  Everyone enjoyed eating some worms - no, not real ones - gummy worms!

We ventured outside to the playground and saw that it was trashed....everyone helped pick up all the trash and dropped it into our labeled recycle boxes.  The playground looked so much better.  What to do with all this trash?  Why make Trash Monsters, of course.  Students got into groups and made some interesting Trash Monsters.  (Be sure to check out our slideshow)

To finish off our evening, we played "Stomp The Cans." What better way to "Stomp out Trash".  Aluminum cans  were lined up and down the sidewalk and students stomped all the cans.  What a fun way to end our evening learning about recycling.

Everyone have a wonderful summer break and don't forget to READ!!!!!   Slideshow Icon "STOMP out trash! Family Reading Night
