A&A Titans Start 2 - 0

The A&A Titans are off to a 2 - 0 start this season.  The team traveled to Cunningham to take on the wildcats in the first game of the year.  After a delay of game penalty on the first play, the Titans scored two plays later on an impressive run by junior quarterback Alec McDaniel.  The first quarter would find more of the same as Alec would find the endzone twice more on long runs.  Doss Grigsby would also add a first quarter score and Garrett Wells would connect with Aaron Harsh to add another score to make it 38 - 0 at the end of the first quarter.  Every Titan player that suited up got in the game in the second quarter both on offense and defense and sophomore Brady Ricke would find the endzone on a pass from freshmen quarterback Trevor Pierce.  Austin Tracy also returned an onside kick attempt for a TD.  Cunningham was able to brake a few big plays for scores to make the halftime score 52 - 20.  A&A put the game away early in the third quarter on scores by Alec and Brady to make the final score 66 - 20.  Alec led the way offensively with 105 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns.  Garrett, Trevor, Devon Newberry, Doss, Seth Hemberger, and Brady also combined for 121 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.  Defensively the Titans were led by Seth who racked up 9 solo tackles.  It was a team effort on defense though as 14 different players recorded a tackle.  Week 2 provided a much tougher opponent for the Titans as they took on the Cedar-Vale/Dexter Spartans.  Both teams were coming off big week 1 victories and were ready for a tough game.  A&A would again find the endzone quickly scoring on their second play of the game on a 60 yard pass from Alec to Garrett.  This would be the extent of the scoring for awhile as the titans were plagued with turnovers and penalties and would be held scoreless for the next two quarters.  The Titan defense continued to play tough only allowing two scores in the first half making the halftime score 8 - 12.  The Spartans came out and capitalized on the Titans' mistakes to increase their 3rd quarter lead to 8 - 26.  A&A would finally get back in the game midway through the fourth quarter scoring on a long pass from Alec to Devon to cut the lead to 14 - 26.  The defense stood tall on a 4th down to get the ball back and the Titans scored quickly again on a pass from Alec to Devon.  After a two point conversion the lead was cut to 22 - 26.  The Spartans were able to break a long run down into the Titans redzone where they had the ball 1st and goal with about 3 minutes left.  The Titan defense again stiffened and forced a 4th down incompletion.  A&A took over deep in their own territory trailing by four points with right at 2 minutes remaining.  From there the Titans mounted an impressive game-winning drive in which they converted three 4th downs and capped it off with another touchdown pass from Alec to Garrett with just under a minute remaining.  They would force a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and were able to kneel out the clock for the gritty victory.  Alec would lead the way both ways with 60 yards rushing and 183 yards passing with the four scores on offense and 21 tackles on defense.  Devon had 30 yards rushing and 90 yards receiving with two scores.  Garrett added 84 yards receiving with two scores.  Defensively, Doss added 15 tackles, Devon and Garrett both had 10 tackles, Jerry Swart and Austin Tracy both added 4 tackles, Raydan Nemechek had 3 tackles, and Kolten Koerner had 2 tackles.  The Titans would like to thank everyone who has supported them so far this year.  The team really appreciates the support they've received from both communities.  They really enjoy the team meals and the rocking crowds at the games.  We hope you'll keep up the support and we'll keep working hard to keep this thing going.  GO TITANS!
