4th Grade Field Trips 2023

On Monday, May 8 the fourth grade walked to the Salter Museum in Argonia.  During the 3rd quarter, we studied and researched famous Kansans.  After studying about a dozen famous Kansans, each student chose a Kansan to write a persuasive essay about why they were their favorite.  This essay was part of their Social Studies State Assessment.  We had several students choose Susanna Madora Salter. All the students enjoyed stepping back in time and seeing all the artifacts from Mrs. Salter and other historical artifacts.  Our tour guides did a wonderful job showing us around and teaching us interesting historical facts.

On Tuesday, May 9 we loaded up on a bus right away in the morning and headed to Hutchinson to tour the salt mine at the Strataca Underground Museum.  Our awesome tour guide taught us how salt is mined and connected it to our Science lessons on rocks and minerals.  It’s always great whenever you can bring your lessons alive.  We enjoyed lunch at Carey Park and playing in the park.  Everyone was quite worn out and we had a very quiet ride back home!
