Kolten with Oklahoma University's Billy Simms, 1969 Heisman Trophy winner.Every year Wendy’s and the Heisman Trophy Trust team up to recognize thousands of high school senior athletes cross the nation. These student athletes are at the top of their class. Each nominee is a well-rounded leader in the classroom, on the field or court, and in the community. Kolten Koerner was Argonia’s Wendy’s Heisman winner this year. Kolten and his family attended a Wendy’s Heisman Trophy luncheon in Wichita where other area winners were honored. There were students from all over Kansas were there to be honored, from 6A Wichita schools to 1A schools like Argonia. Billy Sims, 1969 Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Oklahoma was in attendance and spoke to the nominees. There were also drawings for autographed footballs three autographed by Billy Sims and an additional three by Billy, 1969 Trophy winner Steve Owens, and 2003 trophy winner Jason White each with their individual statistics. Kolten was a winner of one of the three autographed stat footballs.
