Argonia Indian Boys Basketball
By Wayne Vineyard
The Indians returned to play after the Christmas break traveling to Caldwell losing the battle 52-16. Our defense struggled to stop the Bluejays in the paint, and also struggled on the offensive end only putting up the 16 points. Leading scorers were, Hayden 5, Christian B. 2, and Zach led the Indians with 8 pts. Kamden also chipped in 1 point making a free throw. The next game would be played in Argonia against a South Haven team who also was struggling to get wins. We went in at half time up 2 pts. The boys were playing well and we had a good shot at a win. We were outscored in the second half by 3 points and lost the battle 24-22. The boys played very hard and gave everything they had. Scorers were: Haden 5, Christian B. 13, Zach 2, and Kamden with 2 points.
We then played a very good Oxford team. The Wildcats came out the first quarter on fire outscoring Argonia 17-4. The next three quarters were much of the same. We did compete in the fourth quarter scoring 8pts to their 10. The final score was 48-8, not a good defensive show for the Indians. Scoring were: Haden 2, Christian B. 4, and Kamden with 2 points. Next on the schedule was Udall at home. The Indians made a better showing than the first time we played Udall. Still, despite holding them to 21 points we came up short losing 21-17. Again the boys played hard and never gave up. Scoring were: Haden 9, Christian B. 4, Kamden 2, Christian K. 2 points. We then hosted Wichita Home School losing 49-18. Leading the way was Christian B. with 12 points followed by Creek 2, Haden 2, and Christian K. 2
We closed the season out with Flinthills and Central Burden. Losing to Flinthills 45-10, and to Central Burden 38-17. Scoring in these games were: Zach 2, Christian B. 8 and 13, Kamden 2, Timothy White 2. Despite having a losing season, we did improve in several areas. The boys played hard and gave the most they could.
