Red Raider Basketball
The Argonia Raiders Boys team has reached the halfway point in the season. Although we have only one win under our belts, the boys have continued to show improvement. Garett Thompson has led the Raiders in scoring in most of the games, tossing in 20 points in the most recent game against Elk Valley. Hunter Gaddie has done a good job running the point for the team this year. He had a really good game against Flint Hills, knocking down a number of key shots in the second half. Freshmen have been major contributors this year, with Aaron Harsh and Kolten Koerner starting most of the year. In addition, Austin Tracy and Jerry Swart, as sophomores, have been asked to start in a number of games as well. Kolton Dickerson, Lance Conklin (injured reserve), Evan Dolley and Andrew Mages have also contributed heavily to the team effort this year. With only 8 players available for varsity contests, a number of kids have been asked to play heavy minutes this year.
The Raiders have had a recent string of close contests, losing to Cedar Vale/Dexter by 8 and to Flinthills by 2. Despite these close losses, the Raiders have continued to practice hard. We will face a tough schedule coming up, as we prepare to play two top ranked teams in the State in Udall and South Haven. In addition, homecoming is on the schedule, and the Raiders would really appreciate everyone’s support as they prepare to play West Elk on Feb. 8, 2013. Go Raiders!!
