Junior High Boys Basketball
The Jr High boys’ basketball team finished the 2020-21 season with 5 wins and 7 losses. This record
does not reflect how well the boys actually played, we got a little better every game. We had a total of 7
boys on the roster that included 2 8 th graders that have not played, along with 2 6 th graders. We only
had 3 returning players from last season. Our first win I would say was the sweetest for me. As a player
or a Coach, I had never beaten Caldwell in a basketball game. Last year we got close, losing to them
twice by a basket. This year was a little different. Our first meeting we put them away by a score of 34-
14. Our defense played very well and it reflected on the score. We started to play a little better after
getting that first win. We would then lose a close one to south haven by 4 points. Our game earlier in
the season SH would better us by 12 points. After that, we got on a roll and traveled to Cedarvale-Dexter
to better them 34-24, and kept it rolling against Flinthills at home beating them 27-26. Pretty sure I lost
a little hair during that game. Next would be Caldwell again, we would beat them by a score of 46-21
this time. We would then play Caldwell a third time for the tournament play in game and would best
them by 37 points with a score of 44-7. We played very good defense and did a great job of spreading
the scoring around. 6 out of our 7 boys scored points in this game. Beating them once was sweet, but
three times in one year even sweeter. Overall, I felt we had a successful season and we got better as
individuals and as a team. This group of boys was very fun to coach and watch play. This year’s roster
consisted of:
8 Th grade:
Grant Fisher, Cole Handlin, Josh Gregg
7 th grade:
Carson Vineyard, Jackson Kollmeyer,
6 th grade:
Maddox Hemberger, Bohdan Severe
Manager: Rhett Ragan
