COVID Can’t Stop Our Spellers!
By: JR/SR High School ELA Teachers
The local Argonia Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, September 30th. There were sixteen competitors that fought for the top two spots to represent our school in the upcoming county spelling bee. Our ultimate victors were Ambrea Cessna, first place, correctly spelling the word ‘scratch’ and Nicole Layton, second place, by making it to round five. Unfortunately, Nicole was unable to attend the county bee and Kinlee Tracy, third place, participated in her stead.
Due to this year’s pandemic special, safety protocols prevented many schools from participating. However, Wellington and Argonia were the only districts that competed, sending representatives from a total of seven schools. Even though our students didn’t take the ‘gold’ home, Argonia can be proud of Ambrea and Kinlee’s school representation. Both noted that they were looking forward to next year’s Bee!
