Covid Restrictions for SCBL League Contests During the Fall Sports Season

Due to the Coronavirus, Argonia High School and the member schools of the SCBL adopted the following restrictions for all athletic contests during the Fall sports season:

All Events

  • Essential personnel only on the field/court/course.
  • No pre-game or post-game fan gatherings on the field/court/course or other places inside the school facilities.
  • Modified post-game sportsmanship

Indoors Events (Volleyball matches)

  • Masks will be required to be worn by everyone including but not limited to coaches, individuals at the score table, line judges, and gate workers. The mask requirement exempts the current activity participants.
  • Social distancing is encouraged as much as possible
  • With seating capacities being different at each school, the league has adopted 25% capacity as the number of spectators allowed entrance into indoor events.
  • Each school will be allotted a number of tickets for participants for indoor events only for MS/HS:
    • For each school 2 tickets will be allotted each player in Grades 6th – 11th
    • For each school 3 tickets will be allotted for each player in 12th Grade

Outdoor Events (Football games)

  • Masks will be required to be worn for entry and where social distancing cannot be maintained.
    • Examples include: concession stand lines, restrooms, spectators standing along fence, etc.

Temperature checks

  • Visiting teams will need to do temperature checks prior to their teams loading buses/vans for away activities.

Live Steaming

  • Each school will do their best to live stream as many events as possible, especially varsity events.
  • Schools are to inform visiting schools of the link to their live streaming.

These are LEAGUE POLICIES.  They were adopted and must be followed.  AHS does not have any discretion to disregard the guidelines.

Based on the above guidelines, keep in mind the following:

*These guidelines apply to league contests.  Non-league games and the restrictions that are imposed are determined by the host school.

*Because our junior high plays in the Heart of the Plains League, those guidelines may differ.  That league is still in the process of finalizing their guidelines.  They will be posted shortly.

*The ticket system essentially reserves admission for the ticket holder.  I anticipate that the public may still be able to attend if the gym hasn't reached its capacity. However, ADMISSION IS NOT GUARANTEED (if you don't have a ticket).  It will depend on whether the gym has reached its capacity or not.  Some gyms in our league are fairly large, but places like Central Burden, capacity is much smaller.  The moral of the story is if you don't get a ticket from a player, there is no guarantee of admission.

*When we host our league games I will calculate how many tickets have previously been distributed to all the players from all the schools.  After that, we will still admit the general public (those without tickets) up to our 25% capacity.  Consequently, keep in mind the earlier you show (assuming you don't have a ticket), the better chance you have at admission.  My hope is we don't reach that capacity limit, but if we do, we will have to turn people away.

*Masks must be worn inside our gym.  If you don’t wear a mask, you will be asked to leave.  This is league policy.
