National Honor Society Induction

Dr. Julie McPherron

Ross Carter, Hayley Sprouse, Chelsea Coleman, Seth Drouhard

You excel. You serve. You lead. You succeed.

Argonia NHS Chapter inducted four new members on November 11, 2019.  Ross Carter, Hayley Sprouse, Chelsea Coleman, and Seth Drouhard joined NHS and are ready to start serving their community and taking on leadership roles. The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921.  Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service (www.nhs.com).

In order to become a NHS member students must have a GPA of 3.75 or above on a 4.0 scale in order to qualify to start the process.  Then they must show that they are already meeting the following guidelines or have a plan to meet them.

  • Scholarship
Maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
  • Service
This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation.
  • Leadership
Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
  • Character
The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.

Once inducted into NHS students must maintain the high standard as outlined in the bylaws.
