Lady Indian Volleyball 2019

The Argonia Indian volleyball team started the season off in Skyline.  We had to work the jitters out as we had two 6th graders that started and another 6th grader that was the libero for us.  We would finish this night with the big win over Skyline with our three 8th graders making some great plays.

Our next match up would be against Attica and Pretty Prairie.  We would split with them taking home a loss from Attica and win over Pretty Prairie.  The girls played great but had a hard time handling Attica’s tough serves.  We would sweep the next few games as we worked hard at practice returning serves and hitting the ball.  Our hitters made great strides over the next couple of weeks as we were able to get our record to 7-2.

We would go into our league tournament as the number one seed from the west division.  We do not play any league games during our regular season as we play in the HOPL league due to our football team being combined with Attica.  We traveled to Udall for our league tournament where we played Oxford, Caldwell, Udall, and South Haven.  The girls played great ball only giving up 14 or less points to the other four teams all day.  They passed the ball very well so we were able to get the ball to our hitters a great number of times.

We headed to Flinthills for the finals the following Monday where we played Sedan and Flinthills.   Sedan was our first matchup and after a slow start were able to pull off the win to head into the finals with Flinthills.  Although we played a very good game Flinthills was able to pull away in the end for the win.  We were awarded the second place trophy at the League tournament.

Coach and I were very proud of these girls on how hard they worked, but most of all on how much they gained over the season.  They took great strides from the beginning of the year to the end.  Congratulations on a great season.

This year’s team consisted of 8th grade- Taylor Viohl, Heidi McCurley, Maya Jones, and Courtney Baker.  7th grade-Lakelyn Love, Ashley Siskin, and Jessi Baker. 6th grade-Kara Jones, Autumn Coleman, Tori Morrison, Abby Paxson, and Ambrea Cessna.
