Upperclassmen Visit the Capitol

On Wednesday, April 12th, 20 juniors and seniors from AHS visited the state capitol in Topeka.  The Argonia Lions Club sponsored the event and also provided doughnuts on the way and a pizza buffet before they returned.

The group received a fantastic tour of the building with explanations of the artwork and a chance to see the House and Senate chambers.  Unfortunately, the legislators were on Easter Break.  Anthony had the opportunity to sit in Governor Brownback’s desk chair.  Nearly all of the students climbed the 296 steps to the top of the dome and were able to step outside and get an incredible view of Topeka from the top of the capitol.

A special thank you goes out to Scott Figg and the Lions Club for making the arrangements.  It was a great time and was enjoyed by all who attended.
