Argonia Elementary Supports Sumner County BBBS

Students in Sumner County have the opportunity to be mentored by a big brother or big sister through BBBS.  The Big Brothers Big Sisters Program provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.  Start something today by volunteering or donating at www.kansasbigs.org.

Sumner County currently has 25 youth waiting to be matched.  Volunteers must be 18 and graduated from high school or have a GED and be willing to make a one year commitment.  Site based matches meet 30 minutes a week at school.  Community based matches meet 2-4 hours a week outside of school.

Argonia resident Scott Figg is currently serving as a big brother to Gabe at Argonia Elementary School.  Scott meets with Gabe for 30 minutes every week during the school day and helps provide guidance and support for Gabe at school and at home.

BBBS matches are supported by funds raised at the annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event.  Argonia Elementary students participated in their own event during their bowling unit in PE.  All the money they raised will stay in Sumner County and be used to make new matches for the youth in our county.    Argonia students raised $1,436 for Sumner County BBBS!

The BBBS program is very important to our youth.  Please consider supporting this very important organization by volunteering or making a donation.
