Brant Cotta Wins Raider of the Month for February!
Brant Cotta, a sophomore at AHS, became the next “Raider of the Month” for February, 2017. The Activities/Athletics Department of Argonia Junior/Senior High School has decided to recognize one student a month who has demonstrated exceptional pride and integrity while competing in athletics or activities. Students are nominated by coaches and sponsors and once a month, a student is chosen as “Raider of the Month.”
Brant was chosen for the month of February after being nominated by Mrs. Shirley. She had this to say about Brant:
“Brant Cotta's desire to help a fellow Raider goes above and beyond a typical high school student. On several occasions, whenever slack was needed to be taken up, Brant was there with an eager smile and a hard working attitude. During multiple concession stands, he has volunteered to take any shifts that were not filled, even working concessions that were not assigned to his class or club. This helpful nature extends beyond the working front in the handful examples of Brant offering his time during and after school to his fellow classmates to help them find a way of fitting in or tutoring on how to write a speech. If you present a need, Brant is there to pick up the call. One of the calls was when he was asked to join the Forensics team. Brant was open to anything that I gave him to try, and with his hard work and open-mindedness he so far has found his way into qualifying for State Champs and Festival with a first place in serious solo, fourth place in poetry, and third place with Creek Love in IDA. He is an essential benefit to making our proud Raider Nation what it is. Thank you for your hard work!”
The “Raider of the Month” is part of a renewed effort to build school pride. The selected student has his or her picture on a bulletin board along with comments from the coach or sponsor who nominated him or her. Look for a new student in March!!
