AHS Scholars Bowl Underway

The AHS Scholars Bowl team competed very well in all 3 meets during the month of November.  Thus far, 14 different students have participated and they have shown continued improvement each week.  Participants include:  Seniors Jaylynne Baker, Marie Barth, and Kaycee Brower; Juniors Gio Hernandez, Cassidy Boese, and Catie Hammond; Sophomores Amelia Kollmeyer, Brant Cotta, Zach Haxton, and Amber Webster; Freshmen Creek Love, Griffin Brown, Isaiah Lacey, and Taylor Schulte.

The first meet was held at Caldwell High School.  Varsity participants were Amelia, Cassidy, Jaylynne, Kaycee, and Marie.  The varsity team finished with 2 wins and 7 losses.  The top scorers were Kaycee and Marie.  The junior varsity team consisted of Amber, Creek, Griffin, Isaiah, and Taylor.  They finished with 5 wins and 4 losses.  The top JV scorers were Creek and Isaiah.

The following week, the team traveled to Central Burden and competed in pool play.  Varsity competitors were Brant, Catie, Kaycee, Marie and Zach.  The team finished with 1 win and 3 losses, but were only outscored by 35 total points in the 4 matches.  Top scorers were Zach and Brant.  The JV team included Amber, Creek, Gio, Griffin, and Taylor.  The JV team won 2 and lost 1 in pool play, advancing to the semifinals.  In the semis, they lost by 1 question.  They then played for 3rd/4th and lost to Sedan, taking 4th place. The top scorers were Creek and Griffin.

The third meet of the season was held at Sedan.  It was a round robin event. The varsity team consisted of Amelia, Brant, Catie, and Marie.  They won 3 and lost 5.  Top scorers were Brant and Catie.  The JV team included Creek, Gio, and Griffin.  The trio won 1 and lost 6.  Top scorers were Creek and Griffin.

Two more meets are scheduled before the Christmas Break.  On Monday, December 5th, the team travels to Udall.  Argonia High School will host a meet on Monday, December 12th.
