Be Active As A Family

We all know that a healthy lifestyle is so important for all of us and especially children.  The real question is how can we make some simple changes and fit it into our already busy schedules.  The key is finding activities that are fun.  When we have fun, time passes easily and we learn to love being active.  Putting a little focus on nutrition and healthy living is very doable.  Working together as a family can be a wonderful bonding experience and form some great memories that you and your family will remember. Being together as a family builds family unity, creates wonderful memories, and is a great way to relieve stress and instill family values.

Here are some tips for Creating Nutritional Healthy Activities:

*make a shopping list of all the foods you need and have your kids help

*talk about your family's health goals

*set aside time everyday for daily activity.  Make it a part of your family's routine

*find activities that you can do together

*introduce kids to games that teach them about being healthy

*go to a local farmers market to teach kids about where their healthy food comes from

*get your tennis shoes and enjoy great outdoor activities: walking, hiking, frisbee, soccer, etc.

*visit a park - get connected to nature - with this beautiful weather we're having it's a great time for this

*turn off the TV and play some family games

*find a way to get sweaty together - get off of the couch and move

*plan to do family activities once a week

*keep a physical activity chart on your refrigerator to encourage everyone to be active every day

There is no better time than today, so enjoy being healthy and happy with your family!
