JH Math Contest

Twenty-three Argonia junior high mathletes traveled to West Elk High School on October 25 to participate in their annual math relays. This was a first appearance for most of the 6th grade students and they were not sure what to expect when the testing began. But when the test results were being announced at the end of the evening, all doubt was forgotten as our students came home with the second place plaque!

The results for the students are as follows:

First place: Wesley Weishaar, Word Problems 6;  Noah Phillips, Word Problems 8

Second place: Aidan Kollmeyer, Integers 6;  Ryder Ragan, Decimals 6

Third place: Brooke Love, Geometry 6;  Abigail Harbin, Multiplication 6

Fourth place: Aidan Kollmeyer,  Percents 6;  Abigail Harbin, Fractions 6;  Seth Drouhard, Word Problems 7;  Shelby Handlin, Polynomials 8 and Word Problems 8;  Karrlea Hessman, Probability & Statistics; Judd Griffith, Ratio & Proportions 8

Fifth place: Jed Phillips, Word Problems 6; Wesley Weishaar, Multiplication 6;  Aubreigh Haxton, Equations 8

One of the highlights of the evening was all four of our math teams received second place! Argonia received second place in the team division with 32 points.  The following are the teams and the team members:

6th grade team: Wesley Weishaar, Ryder Ragan, Brenna Booker

7th grade team: Chelsea Coleman, Luke Schulte

8th grade team: Judd Griffith, Alexis Vineyard, Karrlea Hessman

Algebra 1 team: Noah Phillips, Shelby Handlin, Aubreigh Haxton

The 6th grade members also received honors by having enough points to get second place in the 6th grade division.  Other participants were Katelyn Grube,  Tori Sandoval, Alyssa Martin, Allie McCurley, Jadyn Gallardo, Emma Huntley and Riley Fisher. Many of these students actually tied for a higher rating but had to settle for the lower place because of time issues. Congratulations to all of you!
