Sixth Graders Publish School Magazines

For the past few months, the sixth graders have been working on compiling magazines that incorporate the many people, events, and locations of our school. The students learned many different formats of writing as they wrote the articles that would contribute to the magazines (Informational, Biographical with interviews, Descriptive, and Pro/Con Debate). They also created cover pages with a magazine name, full-page and half-page advertisements to highlight areas of the school, and a couple fun features that added a bit of pizzazz. Students used not only the Google Docs and Google Slides apps on their iPads, but also took multiple trips to the school’s computer lab to complete the assignments since the desktop versions of those apps allowed the students to use a larger variety of features to format pictures and text. Students acted as peer reviewers and editors for their classmates when they were finished. The students hope you enjoy reading their magazines!

(*Please note that not all of the information in the magazine is factual, especially the advertisements, which were allowed to be imaginary and creative. Do not contact the school to inquire about any of the events or items being sold in the magazines as they may not exist.)
