Drumming to the Beat
Students will sing, play instruments, and move to music in Kindergarten and 1st grade music class. One of the first things they learn is how to keep a steady beat, and that beat is the heartbeat of music. There are many different ways to keep a steady beat, such as marching, clapping, bouncing a ball, or playing an instrument. The students have been practicing keeping a steady beat using many different methods. Our most recent method is keeping a beat on an instrument like a drum. After practicing on the drums in the classroom, they got to create their own drum using two paper bowls and a few staples. They also got to use their creativity to decorate their drum! The students did a great job creating their own drum, and it was fun to practice keeping a steady beat on them!
