Junior High Track Travels to South Barber

The Argonia Indians traveled to Kiowa for the second meet of their 2015 season on April 7th. This meet is 1 of 2 that South Barber invites Argonia Junior High to. This particular meet is the smaller of the two. There were 6 schools at this meet.

After the Indians set their bench marks at the first meet, the challenge they received from the coaches were to try to improve their time or distance. These young athletes had worked very hard between the two meets in order to be prepared for this meet. They all wanted to better themselves in their events. Of course there is one small incentive for them.  If they get a P.R in any event they receive a free ice cream from the coach on the way home.. As the saying goes “It’s the small things in life that sometimes means the most”. These young athletes will find us coaches immediately after their event and let us know if we owe them an ice cream on the way home. With 38 athletes in Junior High Track this time, we might be coaching for free by the time season is over.

Our young athletes performed to the best of their ability once again. I just kept hearing Argonia’s name coming across the loud speaker all afternoon and it wasn’t because they weren’t reporting for their events, it was because they had placed in their events. This will always bring smiles to our faces during a meet as we watch our athletes eyes light up when they hear their name called in such a way.

Our 6th and 7th grade girls brought home 23 medals, our 6th and 7th grade boys brought home 12 medals. The 8th grade girls brought home 5 medals, and the 8th grade boys brought home 10 medals. Job well done Indians, keep up the good work. Focus on those personal goals!

Once again these young people represented our school very well. We will be traveling back out to South Barber on April 16th.  If you see any of these young athletes please congratulate them on their accomplishments this far and wish them good luck with the rest of their season.
