DON'T BUG ME!

How would you feel being dropped off in front of school each day in a truck with a GIANT ant on top of it and even worse, you're the NEW kid at school?

Well....Billy is that new kid and what an adventure he has at Thomas Paine Middle School.  Not only does he have to deal with the embarrassment of riding in his Dad's pest control truck each morning and listening to all the laughs and whispers, but he also has to deal with the class bully.  Does Billy handle all his problems?  Read the book or "bug" one of the students to find out.

In our Raider Reading group as we read the novel, we learned about compound words in which we had a great time making up our own compound words, making predictions, writing about our favorite character and drawing him/her and one of our favorite learning activities was working on idioms.  No one's "tongues were tied" when it came to presenting their favorite idiom.

To finish our unit, we brought in all types of bugs.  We had grasshoppers, locust, ladybugs, crickets, beetles, spiders, and leaf bugs.  Students were put into groups to find out neat facts about their bugs.
