Titan Football

Titans Improve to 6 - 0

The A&A Titans are still rolling picking up four more wins to make their record 6 - 0 on the season.  The Titans traveled to Central Burden in week 3 and came out with an impressive 74 - 34 win.  The offensive attack was fueled by some great blocking up front that allowed the running backs to have a huge night.  Next A&A played the previously undefeated Pratt-Skyline Thunderbirds at Attica.  It was Attica’s homecoming and the town came out in full force to support the Titans.  A&A used a big second quarter to take a 20 point halftime lead.  The team wouldn’t look back winning the game 90 - 54.

The fifth game of the year saw the start of district play as the Titans traveled south to take on the Caldwell Bluejays.  The Titans and Bluejays looked like mirror images of each other on film and with nearly identical records.  The way the teams got there was quite different though with the Titans averaging 65 points a game and the Bluejays only giving up 12 points a game.  The first quarter looked as if it was going to be Caldwell’s type of game as they held A&A to just one score.  The Titans would get rolling in the second quarter as they would score 32 points in the quarter to take a 38 - 8 halftime lead.  The teams played even the second half with Caldwell actually outscoring the Titans but A&A came away with another victory 60 - 38.

Game six pitted the Titans against another district opponent.  This time South Haven came to Argonia for their homecoming.  It was a chilly night but many fans still showed up to cheer on their hometown team.  The Titans put up two scores in the first quarter while blanking the Cardinals to take a 13 - 0 lead into the second quarter.  The Titans would once again get rolling in the second putting up 34 points to extend their lead to 47 - 0 with just under one minute left in the first half.  South Haven would not quit though and would return a kick-off back for a touchdown just before half to make the score 47 - 6.  The Titans came out in the third quarter and made quick work of the Cardinals forcing a 3 and out on defense and scoring on their first offensive play to make the final score 53 - 6.

Offensively the Titans are led by junior quarterback Alec McDaniel who has 652 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.  He has also passed for 939 yards and 19 touchdowns.  Devon Newberry has 422 yards rushing, 272 yards receiving, and 11 total touchdowns.  Garrett Wells leads the team in receiving with 281 yards.  He also has 153 yards rushing and 7 total touchdowns.  Doss Grigsby adds 100 yards rushing, 113 yards receiving, and 7 touchdowns.  Andrew Mages has emerged as a scoring threat as of late with 219 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns.  The team would again like to thank everyone that comes out and supports them every week.  There’s nothing better than having more support on the road then the home teams do.  We really appreciate all the support.  We hope everyone continues to come out as we make a push for the playoffs.  Go Titans!
