Family Reading Night September 2014
There's just no better way to "RIND" down summer and start a new school year than listening to a good story and eating watermelon. Students and their families enjoyed our first Family Reading Night on September 8th by listening to a fun story about some animals who thought they could spit their watermelon seeds the farthest. With help from the students we graphed just how far each of these animals spit their seeds. We had lots of great guesses on which animal would win with the elephant coming out the winner.
It was now time to eat our yummy, juicy watermelons and save all our seeds for our seed spitting contest. Everyone enjoyed more than one piece since they were so delicious. We'd like to thank Larry and Nancy Haskins for donating the watermelons for our fun evening.
After a few practices everyone lined up to see how far they could spit their watermelon seeds. It was interesting to see how everyone decided the best way to spit their seed the farthest. As you watch our slideshow, you'll see just how much fun we had.
Thank you to all the families who came to our first Family Reading Night. Can't wait until our next one! Family Reading Night September 2014
