Lil' Raiders Hoop It Up
Argonia Elementary students in first and second grade participated in a month –long biddy ball clinic conducted by Coach Almanza. For four Sundays in January, the “Lil’ Raiders” practiced dribbling, passing, and shooting with Coach Almanza. At the end of the clinic, the kids participated in a mini biddy ball game at half time of the Argonia High School girls game against Flinthills. Although no one was able to make a basket, everyone had lots of fun and enjoyed playing in front of a huge crowd.
This marks the third year Coach Almanza has conducted a clinic for first and second graders. All three years have been very successful. Six youngsters participated in this year’s clinic. They were:
Second Graders:
Maya Jones
Tieghlor Viohl
Dalton Morrison
First Graders:
Grant Fisher
Noah Jones
Sylvester Hemberger
The introduction of basic skills at an early age will certainly benefit these young players as they get older and stronger. In addition to having fun and improving on their basketball skills, each player also received a free t-shirt for attending the clinic.
Coach Almanza would like to thank all the parents who brought their kids to the clinic every Sunday. This summer, Coach Almanza will conduct a week long basketball camp for all ages, so look for sign up sheets in the Spring!!
