KU-Society of Women Engineers Weekend of Engineering, February 18-19, 2012. Camp costs $95.00 and includes, hotel, meals, and activities. Registration deadline is February 6, 2012.
Pittsburg State University- &/or Engineering: Lab demonstrations (9-2) and (9-12) on Friday, February 17, 2012.

College Goal Sunday-February 12, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 at several locations. Wichita has 2 locations and there are other numerous locations around the state. From 2:00-4:00 pm, Financial Aid Counselors will be available to help you apply for a Department of Education PIN and/or complete your 2010-2011 Free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA FORMS: The school or counselor will no longer receive FAFSA forms by mail for the students to fill out. The students/parents must apply for pin numbers and order up to three forms online. The preferred method is to fill out the forms online. If you do not have a computer at home, then you may wish to use the public library. If this is not an option, please contact the counselor or financial aid office at the college your child will be attending. The websites have changed to www.fafsa.gov and www.pin.ed.gov .
Attention all males: If you are 18 and over, or within 30 days of your 18th birthday, you must register with the selective service at www.sss.gov or go to your local post office. If you are already 18 and haven’t registered yet, do so immediately. For question call 847-688-6888. You are breaking the law if you don’t register and could be sent to prison for up to 5 years, may be fined up $250,000 and you may not qualify for federal student grants or loans for college.

County, State and Local Scholarships:
Sumner-Cowley Electric Coop., Inc. Scholarships (1 $1500 & 1 $1,000) . Please fill out ASAP if your parents have this electric company. Deadline is Jan. 31, 2012. Must write a 600 word essay and fill out the application.
Sumner-Cowley Electric Coop., Inc. Electrical Engineering Scholarship/Internship. Must be a child of a cooperative member that is ready to pursue a career in electoral engineering. Will pay tuition and books to a KS college of your choice. Will pay for internship during summers and breaks with the following requirements: Maintain 2.0 GPA, graduate, 5 years minimum commitment. Dennis Rhodes Memorial Scholarship-2 $100.00 scholarships available. Priority will be given to those students planning on attending a vocational school. See counselor for application (I previously handed them out). Deadline is Friday, March 9, 2012.
Argonia PTO Scholarships- 2 for $500.00 available. Please follow the guidelines on the scholarship application. A number will be assigned to each individual and you will not put your name on the application itself. The deadline is March 9, 2012
Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (KACRAO)
is offering the Glenn Lygrisse/KACRAO Scholarship-4 $250.00 scholarships available. 1 given to each type of institution: Public 4 yr, private institution, community college, and technical/vo-tech. For an application and complete list of participating schools, please go to: www.kacrao.org for details (and a list of winners). Must have 3.25 GPA, Be a senior, 22 ACT, essay, references, and provide evidence of leadership. Deadline is March 9, 2012.
The Dillenkoffer Endowment Scholarship - Awards at least one 4 year scholarship of up to $10,000 annually. This endowment was established to support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered teens with college tuition grants in KS and MO. Must have a 2.75 GPA and attend a college in KS or MO. Go to www.dillenkoffer.org for more information and to apply. Finalists are expected for a formal interview in April. Applications are due by March 15, 2012.
Argonia Lion’s Club- $500.00 scholarship(s) available (Number awarded to be determined)-Follow the guidelines on handout. Must be typed and in resume type format. (Focus is on community/volunteer work), school activities, misc. Please turn in to the school counselor. A Lion’s Club member will pick them up together. The deadline for this is April 1, 2012 .
Dale E. Misak Memorial Scholarship. This is for students in the SCBL. The total of $1,000.00 will be awarded to no more than 2 individuals and will be payable to the student or students upon entrance into college. 3 letters of recommendation required, only 1 being by school personnel. See application for more details and be sure to send it with a current photo to Edith Misak, 115 N. St. George, Caldwell, KS 67022. Deadline is April 1, 2012.
R & S Furniture & Carpet Scholarship-1 $500.00 available, Must have maintained a 2.0 GPA, provide a list of high school & community activities, 200 words or less narrative outlining educational goals and reason for seeking this scholarship, copy of transcript. See counselor for application.

Sumner County Farm Bureau Association Scholarship-Parents must be members. 1 $500.00 available. Please see counselor for the application. Deadline is April 12, 2012.
Wellington Community Theatre Scholarship for Sumner County Students. 1-$1,000.00 scholarship available. To apply please send cover letter, theatre resume (technical and acting) as well as two letters of recommendation, one being from a former director to: Wellington Community Theatre, P.O. Box 573, Wellington, KS 67152. Deadline is April 15, 2012.

General Scholarships
Wichita Chapter of Executive Women International (EWI)-$2,000.00 scholarship to a student (male or female) who is pursuing a degree in business or professional field of study who is planning on getting a 4 year degree. Deadline is April 30, 2012. See application for details and where to mail application.
AES Engineers-1 $500.00 available. Answer essay question from the website, http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm Their belief is that GPA is not the only criteria, but will include the basis of character. Deadline is October 5, 2012.

J.L. Cleland GLBT Non-Discrimination Scholarship- $4500.00/may be renewable for 4 years ($18,000.) Must have the following criteria (priority is descending order) Rural KS HS Students, Other KS HS Students, Kansas residents who are undergraduates, Education Majors, Exhibit financial need, and must demonstrate high academic achievement. This is for students who have experienced discrimination, bullying, violence based on the belief, real or perceived, that said students are Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, or Transgender or for students who have exhibited support for GLBT persons. Best Buy Scholarship Program-1,200 scholarships of $1,000 each. Need to have been involved in volunteer community service or work experience, need solid grades. Grades 9-12 can apply. New!!!Emporia State University Foundation Expands Scholarships-For College Freshmen, 21ACT, 3.0GPA, are eligible for $1,000-$3,600. After FR college year, if 3.0 GPA is maintained and completing 24 credit hours, you would be eligible to receive $1800 to $2800 and would be available for a total of 4 years. Cowley College-Cowley Activities Awareness Team, or C.A.A.T. - 20 scholarships available for Full Books and Tuition. (Basically for leadership, must go through a 3 step process for consideration. Please mail the handout in, or contact Kristi Shaw, Director of Student Life, Cowley College, 620-441-5206.
KSU: Man of Faith Scholarship by Phi Kappa Theta-2 $1,000.00 avail. for incoming male freshman at KSU who recognize faith and academics as the foundation of the fraternity. See counselor for application or go to www.ksu.edu/phikap/manoffaith.htm for more information.
KSU: Delta Epsilon Fraternity. Please contact either of the 2 Vice Presidents for recruitment. The vice presidents will then e-mail a scholarship application to the candidates. Deadline for returning the application is March 17, 2012.
KSU-Acacia Fraternity Scholarships- 1 $1,000 and 2 $500.00 scholarships for incoming male freshmen. Please see counselor for application if interested. Deadline is January 23, 2012.
Repeated Scholarship Information for Deadline Reminders
Kanokla Telephone Association (For those who have Kanokla Telephone Service) is offering 8 $1,000.00 scholarships, 4 in KS and 4 in OK. See counselor for application if you are a member. The deadline is April 1, 2011.
PRIMO (Public Relations Independent Marketing Organization) is offering 3 scholarships for $500.00. Preference will be to those students majoring in Marketing, Public Relations, or any telecommunications fields. Kanokla is an active member of PRIMO and scholarships must be turned in to the Kanokla Telephone Association Office in Caldwell. Applications are due by March 15, 2011.

Cargill Community Scholarship Program- $1,000 scholarships to 350 high-school seniors in the U.S. where Cargill has a business present. Students are selected based on academic achievement and leadership in extracurricular and civic activities. Go to www.cargill.com, keyword: scholarship and at www.ffa.org. Applications must be submitted by February 15, 2011.
Ellis Foundation- Must attend one of the colleges in this website www.TheEllisFoundation.org. Interview candidate through video conferencing. Provides up to $1,000 a semester for up to eight consecutive semesters. Minimum Requirements: Financial need, a GPA of 3.0 and an ACT score of 20.
ESA Foundation Scholarships/Numerous scholarships available from $300 to $1,000. Read handout to be sure of your eligibility (22 ACT and 3.0 GPA) and show financial need. Deadline for all materials and application is February 1, 2012.
Burger King Scholars Program- 700 $1,000 Scholarships available- to apply go to www.bk.com/scholars and fill out the application online. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA, work at least 15 hours a week, 40 weeks per year, be actively involved in community service activities, demonstrate financial need, and plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college, vo-tech program in the fall. Deadline is February 1, 2011.
National Annual CO-OP Scholarship Program- NCCE Partner Colleges- 200 $6,000 scholarships (renewable) Go to www.co-op.edu for application and details. Specific college listing as well. Must have 3.5 GPA, application and essay. Deadline is February 15, 2011.
2011 Sam Walton Community Scholarship will be available on-line from November 1, 2010 through January 31, 2011. More information, printable online instructions, and the link to apply for these and other Wal-Mart Foundation programs are found at www.walmartfoundation.org. The access code (SWCS) must be used to access this application process. Please also check the same web address for scholarship opportunities if associates and children of associates of a Wal-Mart store. The deadline is January 31, 2011..

Many, if not most scholarships are available online. Many scholarships don’t have paper copies anymore, but must submit online applications. Students can use the internet at school on their own time to look up information. Students must make arrangements for permission to use the computer lab or library.
