KAYCEE BROWER, SUMNER COUNTY SPELLING BEE CHAMPION
by Terry Lawrence
October 14, 2011
The annual Sumner County Spelling Bee was held on October 12th at Conway Springs. Representing Argonia Middle School were Kaycee Brower, 7th grader and Alec McDaniel, 8th grader.
Both students did a great job of representing Argonia with Kaycee making it to the final round. Kaycee won the final round over her opponent but had to spell one final word to be the outright winner. Kaycee’s word was rebellion. Kaycee said, “As soon as I stepped up to the microphone I asked myself, does the word have one letter L or two and I told myself, bell has two letter L’s so I went for it,” and with the correct spelling she became the Sumner County Spelling Bee Champion.
Kaycee will represent Sumner County at Great Bend in March 2012 for the State Spelling Bee. Congratulations Kaycee, WE'RE PROUD OF YOU!
