Lady Raiders Win Regional Tournament

The Argonia Lady Raiders defeated South Haven 56-42 Saturday night in South Haven and captured their third consecutive Regional Tournament Championship. They will face Yates Center at Butler County Community College in El Dorado on Friday, March 5 at 7:30 PM.
The 56-42 victory over the Lady Cardinals found the second half of play to be much more productive than the first. Argonia came out somewhat sluggish in the first half and the score was tied at 19 at half-time. Argonia outscored South Haven in the second half 37-23 and executed much better offensively.
Brooke Boatright led the team defensively in steals with 5 and posted 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 12 points. Ali Brewster led the team in scoring with 16 and added 5 assists. Davi Peetoom and Ashton Stansbury scored 13 points and Jaci Peetoom added 2.
In the semi-final game against Caldwell, Argonia won 50-29. Argonia played aggressive defensively and posted 20 steals - Ali, Brooke and Brandi combined for 17. The Lady Raiders only committed 10 turnovers on the night. Ashton Stansbury led all scorers with 17 and added 11 rebounds. Brooke had 8 assists on the night and 8 rebounds. Additional scoring came from Ali with 7, Davi and Brooke 6, Morgan and Jaci 5, Brandi and Devon with 2.
A pep rally and send off for the Lady Raiders will be held on Friday at 3:10 PM in the AHS gym. Everyone is invited to attend. If Argonia wins on Friday, they will play in the finals on Saturday at 6:00 PM against the winner of the Leroy-Southern Coffey County/Little River game. GO LADY RAIDERS!!!
