The Argonia High School Girls Basketball Team has compiled a regular season record of 60-0 over the past 3 seasons. The final regular season game was played in Argonia on Friday night against Cedar Vale/Dexter with Argonia winning an exciting contest 68-37.The Lady Raiders led 40-20 at half time and their defense was key to this victory. Argonia posted 26 steals on the night and held CV/Dexter to 11 field goals. Leading the way for the Raiders in scoring was Brooke Boatright with 25 and Ali Brewster with 15. Jaci Peetoom and Ashton Stansbury added 8, Rachel Simon 6, and Davi Peetoom, Morgan Tracy, and Devon Allen each added 2. Rebounds/Steals/Assists Totals: Brooke 12/10/7, Ali 10/6/8, Ashton 9/3/2, Jaci 5/2/2,Davi 4/1/0, Rachel 3/0/3, and Morgan 2/3/2.
On February 9th the Lady Raiders faced South Haven and won 68-53 in a battle of the top SCBL teams. Argonia's league record stands at 9-0, while South Haven's is 8-1. In that contest, Ashton Stansbury led Argonia with 19 points/7 rebounds/2 steals. Ali Brewster scored 10 points/10 rebounds/4 steals/1 assist, Davi Peetoom scored 10 points/5 rebounds/2 steals/2 assists, Jaci Peetoom scored 9 points/4 rebounds/5 steals/2 assists, Brooke Boatright added 7 points/10 rebounds/4 steals/8 assists, Rachel Simon had 7 points/1 rebound/1 steal/1assist, and Morgan Tracy scored 6 points and added 3 rebounds. Senior Davi Peetoom suffered a broken nose in the contest, but has recovered and is back on the court.
Back to back games were played February 12th & 13th where Argonia defeated Central Burden 80-11 and Sedan 79-49. Central's game found Brooke to lead all scorers with 16 followed by Jaci with 15 and teammates Ali and Morgan added 12 each, while Ashton scored 10, Rachel 9, and Brandi Daerr added 6. Ashton and Brooke combined for 13 rebounds and Ali added 10 steals. Brooke led the team in assists with 8. The Sedan game was a well played game by Argonia and the Lady Raiders connected on 44% of their shots and were 73% from the line. Ali scored 25 points and added 10 steals. Ashton scored 19 points and had 8 rebounds. Brooke led the team in rebounding with 13 and added 9 assists and 8 points. Jaci Peetoom and Brandi Daerr scored 10 and 8 points respectively off the bench. Rachel scored 5 and Morgan 4. With the final SCBL games being played, Argonia has captured 3 consecutive league titles.
Argonia's Junior Varsity Team ended the season at 12-0! Their final victory came against Cedar Vale/Dexter 36-31. All Argonia players scored in the contest and Brandi Daerr led the way with 9 followed by Morgan and Jaci with 8, Devon Allen 4, Lindsay Drouhard 3, Shannon Neifert and Brandy Mabes added 2 each. Congratulations to the JV Lady Raiders on an undefeated season!
Regional Tournament play will begin on Friday for Argonia where they will face the Caldwell/Udall winner at South Haven. Times will be determined following Tuesday's games. Thanks for supporting Lady Raider Basketball!
