December 14, 2009
President Rick Nafziger called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with six members present. Those members present were Rick Nafziger, Sarah Vineyard, Randy Simon, Ron Work, Scott Greenwood, and Joe Allen. Also present were High School Principal Travis Riebel, Elementary Principal Dennis Murray, Superintendent Dr. Julie Dolley, and Clerk Linda White.
Audience: Patron Jeff Tracy was in attendance.
Approve Agenda: Motion by Joe Allen, seconded by Ron Work to approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried 6-0.
Consent Items
Approval of Minutes of Previous Mtg.-Nov. 9, 2009: Motion by Rick Nafziger, seconded by Sarah Vineyard to approve the minutes of the November 9th meeting as presented. Motion carried 6-0.
Approval of Warrants: Motion by Scott Greenwood, seconded by Randy Simon to pay the warrants as presented. Motion carried 6-0.
Reports
Elementary Principal: Mr. Murray reported to the board of the results of the community workday, the H1N1 vaccination clinic, the Christmas Concert, the Vision Screening, and the Santa’s Workshop sponsored by the PTO.
HS Principal: Mr. Riebel advised the board of the test exempt policy, the updated Track Records/Valedictorian and Salutatorian banner displays, and the SCBL honors given to Kyle Bruce, Alex Hemberger, and Leander Green.
Sumner County Interlocal 619: Rick Nafziger gave a report on the meeting held at the 619 office in Wellington November 30th, 2009.
SCKESC: Joe Allen advised the board of the meeting held Clearwater on December 2nd.
Robert Pike arrived at 7:55 p.m.
Superintendent: Dr. Dolley reported the district cash balances and the community meeting to be held January 4th at 7:00p.m.
KASB Convention: Rick Nafziger and Julie Dolley reported on the workshops and speakers at the KASB Convention held in Overland Park December 5th and 6th.
Executive Session: None Held.
Discussion and/or Appropriate Action
Student Absenteeism: Motion by Joe Allen, seconded by Sarah Vineyard to change the test exempt guidelines for this semester only, as discussed. Motion carried 7-0.
KSDE Race to the Top MOU: Discussion
Past Due Accounts: Discussion
Budget: Discussion
State Mileage Rate: Motion by Scott Greenwood, seconded by Joe Allen to reduce the state mileage rate to .50 cents effective January 01, 2010 as discussed. Motion carried 7-0.
Adjournment: Motion by Ron Work, seconded by Scott Greenwood to adjourn the meeting at 11:10 p.m. Motion carried 7-0.
