ACT TESTING

Students who are planning to take the ACT Exam on October 23, 2010 at the Argonia High School need to send their ACT Registration packets by the postmark deadline of September 17, 2010.  You may also register on-line at www.actstudent.org.  The fee for the exam is $33.00 and the plus writing exam is $48.00.  There is a late registration fee of $21.00.    Argonia is an open test site for all surrounding areas, so get your packets mailed in soon or register online to avoid being placed at another site. All who are filling out the ACT packet will need the high school testing code, which is located on the bulletin board by the high school office (170-105).  Please be sure not to confuse this number with the test center code (203-650).  There are ACT Study books in the library that may be checked out to help prepare for the exam.  The counselor’s office also has a few books if you would like to check out. If you have any questions regarding the ACT testing, please contact Diane Bacon at 620-435-6611 or dbacon@argonia359.org.

ACT Prep Workshop

An ACT Prep Workshop will be held at the Wellington High School from 8:30am to 11:30 on Thursday, September 30, 2010. The cost is $30.00 per student.  A check may be made out to the Wellington High School.  Students will also need to bring a pencil, folder to write on, and money for lunch.  Transportation from the school will be provided.  Chad Cargill of Cargill Consulting will be directing the workshop.  The ACT Prep book may be purchased at the workshop for $20.00 plus tax.  Mr. Cargill will explain how the concepts and notes directly relate to the discussion and exercises in the book.  Mr. Cargill also is a motivational speaker and does an excellent job entertaining and keeping their interest.

For more information on the workshop, please go to www.cargillconsulting.com  The  payment and permission slip must be turned in to Mrs. Bacon by Friday, September 17, 2010 (same day as ACT).

The following information was shared by Karen Fuchs from the Wellington High School and Chad Cargill Consulting:

ACT Prep Opportunity

College-bound students at Wellington High School, as well as surrounding area high schools are going to have the opportunity to attend an ACT prep workshop to help them improve their abilities to score well on the ACT (college admission test).  This workshop will be on September 30, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the WHS Auditorium.

Chad Cargill of Cargill Consulting will be presenting an informational and motivational workshop on how to improve your ACT test scores…the following is what Chad says about the workshop:

I will also have the ACT preparation book Chad Cargill's ACT Prep available for purchase after the workshop. During the workshop I will explain how the concepts and notes directly relate to the discussion and exercises in the book. The book is $20 including tax. The notes packet I provide each student will have page references to the book as well.

Most importantly, we will not do a practice test or practice modules during the 3 hour workshop. My philosophy is that you don't need to pay money for someone to watch you take a practice test then tell why the answers are right or wrong. You can do that on your own time, and any of the prep books do a great job of explaining answers to practice problems. The workshop is totally based on my experience of taking the test 18 times in high school and raising my score from a 19 to a 32.

The ACT exam will be offered at Wellington High School on the following dates during this school year:

 September 11, 2010

October 23, 2010                                                        April 9, 2011

February 12, 2011                                                       June 11, 2011
