Lady Raiders are Sub-State Champions

Headed to State

The Argonia Lady Raiders are headed for Hays to play the Lincoln Leopards on Wednesday, March 10th at 6:30pm in the 1A State Basketball Tournament held on the campus of Fort Hays State University. The Lady Raiders defeated Little River 42-33 in the championship game to advance from Sub-State play. The Heart of America League Champs battled Argonia and held them offensively to their lowest point total of the season. Argonia did not trail for long in the second half. Following a go ahead basket by Little River, 19-17, Senior Davi Peetoom hit a baseline 3 point shot to give the Raiders a 20-19 advantage. Argonia's defense came through and created 20 steals on the night and wore down the Redskins in the fourth quarter. The Lady Raiders hit 12 free throws in the fourth quarter as Little River started to foul. Argonia scored 26 points from the field and 16 from the line. Brooke Boatright led all scorers with 13 followed by Ali Brewster with 11. Ashton Stansbury added 9, Davi & Jaci Peetoom scored 3, Morgan Tracy 2 and Rachel Simon 1. Brooke and Ashton posted 6 rebounds a piece and Ali, Brooke, and Davi combined for 16 steals. The game was exciting and the crowd's enthusiasm made the playing conditions favorable.

In the semi-final game against Yates Center, Argonia came out on top 53-29. The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 17-0 first quarter lead and led 30-8 at half-time. All 12 players posted stats and Ali Brewster led the way offensively with 15. Davi, Jaci and Brooke all scored 8, Morgan Tracy scored 6, and Rachel and Ashton added 4. Rebounding leaders for Argonia were Ali with 9, Brooke 7, Ashton 6, and Davi 5. Morgan & Jaci added 4 each. Davi led the way defensively posting 7 steals, while Ali & Brooke added 5 a piece. Yates Center ended their season with 9 wins and 15 losses. Argonia's record stands at 25-0.
