PTO Meeting Minutes
Co-Chair Kylie Phillips called the meeting to order, Secretary Melinda McCurley gave the minutes. Treasurer Kelly Basinger gave the Treasurer’s Report. We have $7942.16 in checking and $1419.58 in savings. The school has $3292.00 from last year that they can still use, which is including in our checking account balance. Katrina will get Kelly a receipt for the jewelry that she purchased for the Santa Shop of $21.26. Julie will get Kelly the final bills from the field trips and we will pay those after they are completed.
Julie gave an update on the snacks for assessments. She felt she had enough to get through until Mid March. She will send out an email to ask for additional donations as needed. Juice Boxes, Granola bars, Trail Mix, etc.
Kerri Cotta gave the Box Tops Update, we have yet to receive the last check from them and she sent in the final amount for this school year. Our total from Box Tops we should get soon from them is $404.30. The Box Tops Party/AYP Party will be held in combination on May 6th. Details will be worked out at the next meeting.
Teacher Appreciation will be held May 3-7th. We will provide snacks/refreshments to the high school and elementary school on the 7th for their in-service.
Robyn Haxton gave the Valentine’s Bingo update. She had about 1235 prizes and Monte developed a spreadsheet that listed the type/age of prizes so she could track what was still needed. The Bingo time lasted for about 35 minutes. The kids liked the different tables of prize categories and getting their hand marked. Instruction sheets were given to the parents helping. Afterwards, she talked with all the teachers to get suggestions for next year. Some ideas/comments were to get some new/different cards as they are curling up. Meet with the teachers prior to the bingo in case they have some questions. Some liked the time amount given to Bingo and some didn’t. After Bingo, Robyn sent thank you notes to those that donated and helped. Some of the left over prizes were donated back to the office/classroom to use.
Discussion was held regarding party sign up for parents. Some suggestions included trying to ensure each room has a party leader that can remind parents of what they signed up for and answer any questions they have about how the parties work, try to get one person in each class to send a healthy/non-sweet snack, try to get one person to send a to-go snack. Kylie will work on a draft of the party sheet for next year. It was also discussed that there is a need for a parent directory to help when you need to contact the parents in your class. Julie will check with Gaylene on getting this done and a permission slip for parents that can sign up to be included in the directory. It will be a volunteer directory. Maybe even have a contest for the kids to design the cover.
Paying for the Field Trips for Kay Club and 6th Grade were voted on, and it passed unanimously. Kay Club will be going Bowling in Cheney and 6th Grade will be going to Anthony.
Several Fundraising ideas were discussed. For the April Meeting we will discuss each idea in depth and vote on which one we will be doing. It was also determined that we need to set a goal for our fundraising.
The next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, March 23rd.
