Jr. High Musical Gearing Up!
The Jr. High music students are spending time memorizing, learning blocking, and getting into character for this year’s musical extravaganza. With thirty-two cast members, there will be quite a crowd on stage. This year we are traveling to 1945 where the war is the focus of every man, woman, and child. Buddy Bugles (Dalton Good) owns the Seaside Hotel which he is about to lose to back taxes since he spends every cent he gets buying war bonds to support his grandson’s (Garett Hagar) efforts in the war. His granddaughters (Cori Drouhard, Faith Gaddie, Mai-Ling Chao) along with his faithful housekeeper (Ashley DeHoff) come up with a plan to turn the hotel into a Star-Spangled Canteen for sailors and soldiers to make the money to pay the taxes and foil the plans of the devious Skylar Schutt (Alec McDaniel) and his “secretary”, (Olivia Brantley) who plan to take over the hotel. Enter the Ladies League for Coastal Defense (Rebekah Fitch, Danielle Head, Myleigh Kingsley, Sabrina Kingsley) whose motto is “always be prepared”, who are looking for spies. With additional cast members of an abundance of sailors and soldiers (Dalton Barry, Evan Dolley, Michael Garcia, Aaron Harsh, Devin Hunt, Jesse Loveland, Michael Norris, Brice Sellers, Austin Tracy); lovely ladies with a variety of interests and occupations (Jessica Goddard, Haylea Hessman, Shelby McCoy, Romi Huggins, Shania Passler, Krissy Topinka); the McCoy jug band (Gus Drouhard, Victoria Jordan, Briana Neifert); a radio announcer (Jerry Swart); and Buddy’s long time vaudeville partner (Wyatt Botkin); anyone could be a spy and plenty of the characters’ motives are in question. Is the Seaside Hotel headquarters for a spy ring? Leave it to the Bugle girls and the Ladies League for Coastal Defense to sort it all out.
This night of fun and frivolity is scheduled for Tuesday, April 6th at 7:30 pm in the HS gym. Admission will be $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for students K-12. Mark your calendars now for this fun-filled event.
Special Thanks!!!
This year we have an added bonus for our students and audience with the skills of Natalie (Asmussen) Kollmeyer as choreographer. Natalie was active in junior high and high school in plays and musicals and helped choreograph musical numbers when she was a part of the cast. She also choreographed several dances that the cheerleaders performed – one of which they performed at the state basketball tournament. Natalie just started the Bodies in Motion studio in town. We are thrilled to get to benefit from her skills. It is great to see our talented alumni returning to work in our community and she brings a wealth of enthusiasm and knowledge to enhance our production.
