Lady Raiders Win #10

The Argonia Lady Raiders opened SCBL Tournament action against Oxford Monday, January 18, and were victorious 68-25. Argonia's defense created steals and converted them into points in the first quarter of play and led 24-4 at the end of the quarter. Freshman Jaci Peetoom came off the bench to lead all scorers with 17 and sister Davi scored 16 points and brought down 6 rebounds.  Argonia tallied 22 steals on the night with Ali Brewster and Ashton Stansbury combining for 10. Brooke Boatright and Ali combined for 11 assists/14 rebounds.  Argonia played unselfish and handled the ball extremely well by having only 8 turnovers for the game.  9 Lady Raiders scored and all played with composure and made good decisions throughout the contest. Peetoom 17pts/2rbs/2stls/2assts, D.Peetoom 16pts/6rbs/2stls, Drouhard 1pt/2rbs, Stansbury 3pts/3rbs/4stls/3assts, and Boatright 11pts/7rbs/3stls/6assts. Argonia will face Sedan on Thursday in Ark City at Cowley College at 7:00pm. In Junior Varsity action, Argonia won 30-21. Brandi Daerr posted 4 steals in 2 quarters and scored 10 points. Morgan Tracy, Jaci Peetoom, and Devon Allen boarded strong and each had 7 rebounds. The J.V. record stands at 6-0.

Two league games were played last week against Udall and South Haven. Udall was defeated 25-83. Argonia's game against South Haven was a good contest where both teams played aggressive and worked hard. Argonia won the battle 53-34 and is now 3-0 in league play. Ashton Stansbury put up 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the game while teammate Ali Brewster scored 13. Brooke Boatright led the team in steals (7) and assists (9) and posted 10 rebounds. Game stats for the South Haven game are as follows. Argonia's J.V. won 58-33 against South Haven. Morgan Tracy led the way with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Brandi Daerr added 14 points, Devon Allen and Rachel Simon each added 8, and Jaci Peetoom 4.
