DARE Graduation

The 2009 D.A.R.E. graduation for the 5th and 6th grade was held at Argonia Elementary School Wednesday, April 8. Sixteen 5th grade and 9 sixth grade students received their diplomas for completing the D.A.R.E. class requirements. Officer John Moore, Sheriff Gerald Gilkey, and Police Chief Rebecca Mendoza spoke to the students about challenges they would face as they grow older and how to appropriately respond to them.
Student essay winners in the fifth grade were 3rd place Evan Dolley, 2nd place Dalton Berry, and 1st place Mai Ling Chao. Sixth grade winners were 3rd place Tesla Prince, 2nd place Kristina Topinka, and 1st place was Faith Gaddie. Winners read their essays to the audience and were rewarded with stereos. The students will attend the D.A.R.E Field Day on May 5th.
