General Information:
Fort Scott Community College has a John Deere TECH Training Program. Open house is on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 from 9-2. Bethany College Art, Music & Theatre Awards Day is on Saturday, February 14. Sign up at www.bethanylb.edu or call 800-826-2281 for more information. 8:30 am registration for art, 9:30 am for music/theatre.

Argonia Mart and Argonia Development Company, LLC- $500.00 –See Application-Deadline is April 1, 2009: Please turn in to the school counselor.
Argonia Lion’s Club- $500.00 scholarship(s) available(Number awarded to be determined)-Follow the guidelines on handout. Must be typed and in resume type format. (Focus is on community/volunteer work), school activities, misc. Please turn in to the school counselor. A Lion’s Club member will pick them up together. The deadline for this is April 15, 2008 .
Argonia PTO Scholarships- 2 for $500.00 available. Please follow the guidelines on the scholarship application. A number will be assigned to each individual and you will not put your name on the application itself. The deadline is April 1, 2009.
Dale E. Misak Memorial Scholarship- 2 $500.00 scholarships available for SCBL. See application and be sure to send it with a current photo to Edith Misak, 115 N. St. George, Caldwell, KS 67022. Deadline is April 15, 2009.
Family and Community Education (FCE) (groups in Sumner County) 1 $300.00 scholarship available. See application or go to www.oznet.ksu.edu/sumner/ under events and forms. Deadline is April 1, 2009
Kansas Association of Directors of Plant Facilities: Dave Williams and Dick Merriman Scholarship. 1 $250.00, 1 $500.00 and 1 $1,000.00 scholarship available. This scholarship is only available to graduating seniors who have a parent who works as a custodian. Must be a Kansas student attending a Kansas college. See counselor for applications. Deadline is February 20, 2009.
Kansas County Clerks’ and Election Officials’ Association- For students that are majoring in Journalism, Political Science, or communication. 10- $500.00 scholarship available. See counselor for application. Deadline is April 3, 2009.
Steve Harper Scholarship- $1,000 scholarship for KS High School Senior who will be attending a KS College and majoring in either a natural resource or photography curriculum. Deadline is April 15, 2009.
Senator Robert J. Dole Public Service Scholarship Program-Up to 128 $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Must have a 3.0 GPA, be involved in a significant amount of volunteer activities, and enroll in a Kansas Regents’ University (Or Washburn University). Kansas Junior Golf Scholarship- This is an academic scholarship, students must have participated in junior golf activities, and high school golf and are based on leadership, written essay, and financial aid. The grant is $1250 per year and is renewable up to 4 years. Go to www.kansasgolf.org and click on KS Golf Foundation and follow the links for Scholarships. KS Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc. is awarding a total of $6,800 in scholarships. 1 each of $1300, $900, $800, $700, $600, and 5 each for $500. Must attend a KS university, major in accounting, and rank high in the ACT. Must have counselor send in test scores by March 3, 2009 and then they will send a questionnaire/short essay form which will be due by April 14, 2009.
Songs of Kansas Music Scholarship- 1 Voice Scholarship and 2 instrumental scholarships available for students entering any of the Board of Regents Universities. Each institution will be awarding 3 scholarships for the amount of $2482.00. Deadline is May 1, 2009.

Kansas Environment Health Association: Bill Spaniol Memorial Scholarship. Go to www.e-keha.org for the information sheet and application. The information sheet, personal inventory form, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and letter of intent must all be included before applications will be reviewed. Financial Aid Sources for Kansas Students Application Form. See application for details. Students must be a designated state scholar for the KS State Scholarship. The others available students must not be a state scholar. There is a $10.00 application fee. Deadline is May 1, 2009.

The Dillenkoffer Endowment Scholarship - Awards at least one 4 year scholarship of up to $10,000 annually. This endowment was established to support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered teens with college tuition grants in KS and MO. Must have a 2.75 GPA and attend a college in KS or MO. Go to www.dillenkoffer.org for more information and to apply. Finalists are expected for a formal interview on April 19. Applications are due by March 31, 2009.

Other Scholarships:
Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship Program- 100 $1500.00 scholarships will be available. Please go to www.monsanto.com or www.ffa.org to get application. You must not be an FFA member to apply.
The Conclave- 3 Radio/Music Industry Scholarships Available for a combined total of over $65,000 (also money for a school). Must provide a voice cassette tape/CD with the application. Deadline for the music scholarship applications must be received by March 1, 2009.
USA Access to Education Scholarships-$1500.00 scholarships available to students with economic need. Full time and ½ time undergraduates and full time graduate and professional students are eligible for the awards. Up to 50% of the scholarships will be given to students who demonstrate financial need, have a physical disability, or are members of an ethnic group. You may go to www.usafunds.org/scholarhsip for the application and more details. The deadline is Feb. 16, 2009.
College Scholarships
McPherson College has several scholarships from $500.00 to 8,000.00. See counselor if interested in attending school there.
DeVry University-Has several scholarships available. Must apply in February. Our school is guaranteed a scholarship if the designee meets the criteria. See counselor if interested. Deadline is March 9, 2009.
Hutchinson Community College-Gary Carson Big Brothers-Big Sisters Scholarship-Can be enrolled part time (6 hours) or full time. If interested, please fill out the general scholarship application for HCC and include a personal statement describing your involvement in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization and your educational goals. Mail this to the HCC Endowment Association, 1300 North Plum, Hutchinson, KS 67501 by April 1, 2009.
