Graduation Night

Kindergarten Graduation

Celebrating with the Kindergarten Class of 2008

by Susan Neifert

May 19, 2008

Thursday night, May 8th, eleven students from Argonia Elementary celebrated the completion of their Kindergarten year. Travis Bowling, Griffin Brown, Hope Casner, Chase Gray, Skylar Harrill, Joshua Heasty, Isaiah Lacey, Creek Love, Jade McKibben, Madison Owens and Taylor Schulte took the stage shortly after the ceremony's 7:30pm start and brief introductions of their parents and families, performing a wonderful adaptation of the classic story, The Gingerbread Boy. Parents and well-wishers alike laughed as the kids ran back and forth across the platform chasing the elusive cookie-come-to-life. The applause was loud and vigorous when the actors took their final bow.

Following this production, the eleven took their places on the risers and, playing instruments for sound effects, told the tale of The Little Princess. Ms. Wattson was their director and Mrs. Neifert, their narrator. Several musical selections followed.

When the singing was done and while the students donned their graduation caps, the gathered families and friends enjoyed a pictorial montage featuring the students' baby pictures and other shots.

Finally, with the lights coming back up and the processional being played by Rhonda Mock, the graduates walked down the aisle and up onto the stage once more. As their names were called out one by one, the proud students strode toward Mr. Murray who gave them each their diplomas in turn.

When all returned to their seats, the Kindergarten class of 2008 was introduced to the audience and received with joyous shouts and thunderous applause.

The parents, with the help of Kay Club volunteers Kandice Pontious and Afton Mages, served refreshments.

A good night was had by all.
