General Information
College Goal Sunday-February 10, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 at several locations. Wichita has 2 locations. From 2:00-4:00 pm, Financial Aid Counselors will be available to help you apply for a Department of Education PIN and/or complete your 2007-2008 Free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Go to http://www.collegegoal.org for locations.
NEW THIS YEAR ON FAFSA FORMS: The school or counselor will no longer receive FAFSA forms by mail for the students to fill out. The students/parents must apply for pin numbers and order up to three forms online. The preferred method is to fill out the forms online. More details will be coming soon.

Pratt Community College and the KS Independent Oil & Gas Assoc. has partnered up to offer training. This field is in desperate need of competent workers to fill these positions.
Wichita Area Technical College-Local area work forces have a high demand for aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and construction jobs. WATC offers training in these areas. I have a DVD on this if interested.

Scholarship Information
Mr. & Mrs. A.L. Chase Scholarship-Top 20% ACT Score/Top 10% of Class-Sumner County Bar Assoc. will select individual/Sumner County Seniors Only-$1,000 for 1 year only non-renewable-Deadline on or before January 11, 2008
The Loofbourrow Educational Trust Scholarship (Same form as Chase Scholarship). Sumner County Students only. If you qualified to fill out the Chase Scholarship, you need not fill out the Loofbourrow Form, but copy it. The amount will be determined later, but previously was $1,000.00 and is not based on same requirements as the Chase . This one used to be renewable. Deadline on or before January 11, 2008.
Kansas Teaching Profession Scholarships-$4,000 per year (for a total of $16,000). Eligible students must have a 3.25 GPA or receive a score above the 75th percentile on an admissions test. TEACH Grant recipients must teach in high need schools and high need fields for a minimum of four years within the eight years after finishing the program. The following shortage fields are targeted to TEACH Grants: mathematics, science, foreign language, special education, bilingual education, reading specialists, and other documented high need fields. TEACH Grants should become available in July 2008. It is expected that the Department of Education will issue regulations for implementation.
ESA Foundation Scholarships/Numerous scholarships available from $300 to $1,000. Read handout to be sure of your eligibility (22 ACT and 3.0GPA) and show financial need. Deadline of all materials and application is February 1, 2008.
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program. 3 are awarded on the basis of merit for four consecutive years of study at an institution of higher education are renewable. Must be a citizen who will graduate in the 2007 school year. Must have a 7 semester unweighted GPA of 3.85 and a 32 composite on the ACT. 300min/500max word essay. See counselor for application. Deadline is February, 2008. (1st?)
Fifth Annual CO-OP Scholarship Program- NCCE Partner Colleges- 185 $6,000 scholarships (renewable) Go to http://www.co-op.edu for application and details. Specific college listing as well. Must have 3.5 GPA, application and essay. Deadline is February 15, 2008.

College Goal Sunday-Four $500.00 scholarship drawings will be made at the conclusion of the event at each of the 19 sites across Kansas. Must be present for drawing.
NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation Scholarships- 400 $1,000 scholarships available and 4 regional winners will receive a $5,000. scholarship and 1 will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Not based on financial aid, but ACT score, class rank, and GPA as indicated by transcripts. Go http://www.goonline.cc with Access Key = NFIB. Deadlines for hard copies should be faxed by February 11, 2008.
Kansas Masonic Foundation Education Department- Scholarships available. Must be in the loan program for two years, remain a full-time students and maintain a 3.5 or higher. May go to http://www.kmfonline.org for more information.

Nelnet College Planning Scholarship-10 $25,000 scholarships available and 750 first prize winners will receive $1,000 scholarships. 2 winners from each state guaranteed. Barton County Sports Medicine Program. See me if interested in obtaining a possible scholarship. I must submit your information soon. A minimum of 2.0 and 12 credit hours is required to maintain the scholarship.
Bethel College- Men's & Women's Cross Country Scholarships available. If interested contact counselor for a recommendation form.

Butler Community College Scholarships available in the Humanities and Fine Arts Departments. Have participation scholarship auditions for music, theatre, dance, and journalism on February 2, 2008 or February 29, 2008, and visual arts is held only on February 29, 2008. Heart of Leadership Award sponsored by Leadership Southwestern will award $500.00 to one project in each of the following categories HS NHS or HS Church Youth Group. Must be involved in a terrific service project. Materials must be postmarked no later than January 25, 2008 and winners announced by Feb. 15, 2008.
